Sunday – February 12th – 1 John 5:9 -----
5:9) If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE REASON SO MANY PEOPLE KNOW THE SOLUTION IS THAT THEY CREATED THE PROBLEM.*
Happy Sunday to you! I am reminded of an old saying we use to repeat at the beginning of Sunday church – “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”. Now as I am older I realize that this famed call and response that kicked off worship really applies to every day of the week. God has made each and every day just alike, filled with opportunities to celebrate our connection to the creator of the universe and to find joy in every moment of the day. Sadly, the evil one is quick to remind us that we don’t have all the things we want, that maybe our health isn’t perfect, that our jobs or bank accounts or relationships are in peril. If we listen to the devil, there is not much to rejoice about, however if we listen to God then we know in spite of challenges, trials, or temptations we have a complete and confident victory through Jesus. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.
In our pick verse today, John continues to champion his case that those who have a relationship with Jesus have the opportunity for an abundant life while on earth. John draws the comparison that if we are willing to gauge our trust in the testimony of human beings, then how much more should we accept the truth God reveals to us through His holy word as confirmed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Sadly, there are times when the words of a person tickle our ears with partial truths that make us feel good, while at the same time require us to reject the full truth of scripture. This is one of the classic tactics of the devil – a partial truth has just enough in to feel like it is truth, yet at the same time any deviation for God’s word makes a partial truth completely false. Question those who you listen to and trust only the word of God.
Blessings
