5:7) For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
8) And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

Good Saturday to you! Another weekend has arrived, and, on this weekend, we will wrap up our current SunRise series “Overcoming A Spiritual Slump”. We have followed the story of King David in 2 Samuel 11 & 12 outlining his distraction that led to sin that led to more sin until Nathan the prophet brought a word of discipline from God. This week David discovers that sincere confession and true repentance leads us out of spiritual slumps and back under the blessings of God. Join us at SunRise for in-building worship at 8am and 9:45am, or online live stream at 9:45am followed by on demand options at 11am.
In our pick verses today, John continues to speak into the human/divine nature of Jesus. John’s use of the “water” and the “blood” to follow along the same meanings as in verse six. Jesus’ baptism and death are witnesses to His becoming truly human and dying for us. The Holy Spirit has inspired the Scriptures that tell of Jesus’ baptism and death. The Spirit also then illuminates our minds for better understanding of these forever truths. As a side note, most scholars agree that the words beginning with “in Heaven” (v7) and continuing through “on earth” (v8) were not in the original manuscripts.
