Happy Friday to you! Another great inspirational thought for us today. The idea of faithfully serving is a huge part of who we are at SunRise. In fact, our membership vows focus on three pillars of commitment within the life of SunRise. We encourage every member to engage in discipleship growth, generosity, and service. Being part of a church family helps us grow in all aspects of our faith, and as we grow, we want to share with others what we have learned. Serving is our way of expressing our thanks to God for His loving us back into relationship. If you feel like something is missing from your spiritual life – it might be helpful to find a place to serve.
In our pick verse for today, John continues to add insight to our being part of the family of God. In this verse John address the fully human and fully divine nature of Jesus. Jesus’ baptism in the waters of the Jordan proved He was truly one of us and at the same time He was God’s son. It was through the shedding of His blood on the cross that He paid for our sins. The Holy Spirit bears witness to Jesus’ divine sonship, true humanity, and His atoning death. We need only to believe and then confess to this truth.
