Thursday – February 9th – 1 John 5:5 -----
5:5) Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE LIVE BY FAITH, AND FAITH LIVES BY EXERCISE.*
Good Thursday to you! Our inspirational thought today speaks volumes into the strength of our relationship with God. Faith is the foundation of our connection to an invisible God with who our only contact is through prayer and scripture. We can hear of other’s faith, but their faith is not our faith. We can say we have faith, we can read about faith, we can listen to songs about faith, but until we step out and “do” faith it is merely potential. Hebrews 11 states that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. When we exercise our faith, like our muscles, it will grow and strengthen. And when we have a strong and growing faith others will see in us what it means to live by faith.
In our pick verse today, John gives us another look at the power of being a follower of Jesus. The devil takes every opportunity to distract us from our walk with God. Time and time again, the devil will try to convince us that we are “less than”, and/or without any real connection to God. The key to victory over the devil is confidence in, and full out commitment to Jesus who is the son of God. When we doubt this for even a moment, we have opened the door for the world to rush in and flood us with all kinds of false alternatives to the truth of the Gospel. When our eyes stay focused on God’s word, God’s way, God’s will, and God’s when, we will always be victorious in Christ.
Blessings
