5:2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
3) For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

YOU CANNOT WALK WITH GOD AND RUN WITH THE DEVIL.*
Howdy Tuesday! What a great inspirational thought for today. Every time this thought cycles around as we read through the Daily Walk Bible program it brings a smile to my face. This would be an accurate description of all human nature from the beginning of time. The evil one makes every effort to distract our connection with God. It is important to know that one of the devil’s tactics is to convince us that we can be somewhat connected to God while still listening to the false rhetoric of temptation. Our being slightly off base is perfect for the plans the devil has for us, because even just a little off is still being unfaithful to God. Don’t ever think you can belong to God and support the devil at the same time.
In our pick verses today, John continues to explain how we are living in the shadow of Jesus by obeying His commandments for our life on earth. We affirm that we are born of God by our willingness to set aside our personal agendas that conflict with being obedient to God’s word. When we are obedient we are full participants in God’s victory over sin and death. To love God’s children is to keep God’s greatest commandments and to demonstrate our love for Him. While we, who are born again in Jesus, will experience freedom and peace when we love others, for the not-yet-believer this commandment is burdensome and seemingly impossible. When we come closer to God, we are able to share God’s love with other believers.
