Saturday – February 4th – 1 John 4:18-19 -----
18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
19) We love Him because He first loved us.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHAT PEOPLE UNCOVER, GOD WILL COVER; WHAT PEOPLE COVER, GOD WILL UNCOVER.*
Good Saturday to you! Our first weekend in February has arrived, and at least in the shadow of the O’Fallon steeple it is on tap to be an above average temperature couple of days. Speaking of the weekend, I am praying you are able to reserve some time to spend in worship with SunRise. We are in the fifth week of our “Overcoming A Spiritual Slump” series. We have been studying the story of King David and his sin of adultery with Bathsheba. This week we dive into the portion of the story where David discovers that there are both unavoidable consequences for every sin and that spiritual healing begins with confession. David has hit rock bottom and is beginning to take his first steps back toward God. Join us at 8am or 9:45am in-building, or online beginning at 9:45am. On-demand YouTube options are available at 10:50am.
In our pick verses today, John continues to teach on achieving the perfect love of God in our lives. As we grow in our love for God, we will no longer fear His punishment on the day of judgement, but instead we will securely and confidently rest in His peace and unconditional love. When we begin doubting the presence of God in our lives all we need to do is call up verse nineteen to remind us that God loved us at the moment of our creation, loved as He knitted us together in our mother’s womb, loved us as He, through His prevenient grace, nudged us into saying yes to his invitation of salvation. This love is what spurs us to love God and love others.
Blessings
