Saturday – January 28th – 1 John 4:7-8 -----
4:7) Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8) He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MORE THAN 35,000 LAWS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN TRYING TO IMPROVE UPON WHAT GOD SAID IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.*
Good Saturday to you! Tomorrow, in addition to being flannel shirt day and Family worship, we are ready for week number four of our “Overcoming A Spiritual Slump”. We have been following the story of David and Bathsheba from 2 Samuel 11 &12, through the lens of what I call the “Hebrew Cycle”. The Bible is filled with story after story of how we start out under God’s blessings, eventually we think more highly of ourselves and fall into rebellion which culminates in sin, then we find ourselves in the depths of suffering, followed eventually by our coming to our senses. This is the stage where we are in the story this week, David dealing with “Spiritual Disgust”. Join us in-building at 8am or 9:45am, online at 9:45am for live-stream, followed by on-demand options starting by 10:50am.
In our pick verses today, John introduces a new teaching subject – perfect love brings confident assurance to our lives. John answers the very simple question – why Christians should love each other, with an equally simple answer because God first loved us. In the life of a believer, love is made the ultimate test of knowing God. Because God is the source of all real love, everyone who is like Him has a spirit of love imparted to them when they accept Jesus as their savior. All that God does is done in holy love. It is easy to “say” we are a Christian, but our actions of loving others will prove the truth of our statement as being correct or incorrect. Take the time today to be a full representative of God’s love for us.
Blessings
