Friday – January 27th – 1 John 4:5-6 -----
4:5) They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them.
6) We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD IS NEITHER SHUT UP NOR SHUT OUT OF ANY PLACE.*
Happy Friday to you! What a great inspirational thought for us to ponder today. So often the devil tempts us to consider that God is not able to see in the proverbial dark. Satan tries to trick us into thinking that things done away from the crowd or out of the sight of others will go unnoticed and unrecorded. However, one of the great attributes of God is that He is everywhere all at once. This can be both very comforting to know that the creator of the universe is but a whisper away from where we are at any moment or place. God’s power and protection are at our side because God sees and knows all things. On the other hand, this same every-present God also knows when we are drifting away in our relationship with Him. Nothing is ever hidden from the knowledge of God. Chose today to embrace the joy of knowing God has our lives in His hands. Live like one who has already won the victory over Satan, sin, and death.
In our pick verses today, John closes out this section of teaching on how our love is to be like God’s love toward others. As John lays out these verses “they” refer to the false teachers who constantly try to disrupt the truth of the Gospel, while “we” refers to John and the other apostles. John states that the litmus test to identify the false teachers are those who champion a negative response to the preaching and teaching of the apostles who were commissioned by Jesus. The source of the true apostolic teaching, both in the first century and for today, is contained only in what we know as the New Testament. Any other sources fall short of showing the truth of Jesus Christ and the way to Heaven.
Blessings
