Saturday – January 7th – 1 John 2:28-29 -----
2:28) And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.
29) Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God’s children.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE BEST WAY TO FACE LIFE’S CHANGES IS TO FACE THE UNCHANGING GOD.*
Good Saturday to you! The first full weekend of 2023 is ready for us to enjoy. Also, this weekend we begin a new series at SunRise – “OverComing A Spiritual Slump”. One may not think that at the beginning of the year a spiritual slump is something we would need to deal with, but the reality is that slumps can happen anytime of the year and at anytime in our lives. The great news is that we don’t have to get stuck in a spiritual downward spiral, the Bible is filled with stories of folks who were able to reverse their course and excel for the Kingdom of Heaven. If you might need a little re-focusing for your spiritual life then join us either in-building at 8am or 9:45am, or online beginning at 9:45am.
In our pick verses for today, John brings to a close the second chapter of this letter to first century believers. This section of John’s letter has focused on the importance of staying close to God and knowing the truth about Jesus. We are encouraged to grow in fellowship with Jesus by being obedient to His teachings and to the word of God. When this is part of our spiritual disciplines, we can have confidence that when Jesus returns, we will be part of those who will be blessed for our earthly labors. When we practice righteousness, we will reflect the image of Jesus to others and in that reflection will be our assurance of eternal life as promised by Him who is righteous.
Blessings
