Friday – December 30th – 1 John 2:15 -----
2:15) Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
TIME HAS NO POWER OVER THE NAME AND DEEDS AND WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST.*
Happy Friday to you! Wow, what an awesome inspirational thought for today. One of the greatest tactics of Satan is to deceive us into believing that we are the smartest generation to ever exist. And in one sense we do know more than those who have gone before us, but when we claim that knowledge over God’s wisdom we have been duped by the devil. I hate to burst your bubble but that tactic has been in play since the Garden of Eden when the serpent suggested to Adam and Eve that they knew more than God. You would think that after all this time, especially with story after story in the Bible, we would realize that God’s word remains unchanging, His power never fails, and His promise is perfect and on track to move to completion. Yet, we want to think that time has dated God and the words of scripture were for a previous generation. The devil’s temptation is for us to reject God’s word, God’s way, God’s will, and God’s when and instead choose to seek our own agenda. Now is the time to tell the devil to take a hike. Remember when we resist the devil, he will flee from us.
Our pick verse today is one of those powerful teachings that we should commit to memory and incorporate into our life’s decisions. John’s words do not have an expiration date, they are intended to challenge the believers of his day and to speak to the believers of every generation thereafter. “World” in this verse identifies our human existence that intentionally operates in opposition to God. John would state that the things in this world are the values, morals, agendas, and desires that motivate people to live contrary to God’s law. When we chose to live according to values that oppose God’s perfect plan for humanity, we have chosen to not love God with our entire being. We are challenged as followers of Jesus to “be in” this world, but not “of” this world.
Blessings
