Tuesday – December 27th – 1 Peter 2:7-8     -----

2:7) Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before.
8) Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SEEK NEITHER MORE NOR LESS THAN GOD’S WILL FOR YOU.*

Happy Tuesday to you! Today’s inspirational thought is one of those tough ones to successfully live into in today’s fast-paced me-centered society. We are to always seek after God’s will in our lives, yes - it is one of the big four “W’s” required to be a follower of Jesus. But our humanness, coupled with the skill and experience of the Devil, can easily rewrite our interpretation of God’s will for our life into one, that under the surface, sounds more like “my will be done”. How do we know what is God’s will for our lives? The first thing to do is be in constant conversation with God through prayer. Second, spend time reading His word, studying His word, talking to others about His word, and (most importantly) seeking interpretation of His word through the Holy Spirit.

In our pick verses today, John begins a new teaching subject on how we are to follow Jesus’ example to walk in love. The command to love is an Old Testament commandment because from the beginning God has expected His people to love others. Yet it is a new commandment as well because Jesus’ coming has fully shown us God’s love, and He enables us to love others. Within a community of believers, love is not only expressed by showing respect, but also equally expressed through self-sacrifice and servanthood. Loving others, as Jesus has loved us, includes holding each other accountable to the word of God. Love should be the unifying force and the identifying mark of the Christian community. Love is the key to walking in the light of God because we cannot grow spiritually while we hate others. Our growing relationship with God will result in a growing relationship with others. Who might you show the love of God to today, this week?

Blessings
