Monday – December 26th – 2 Peter 2:5-6 -----
2:5) But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.
6) Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PRAYER IS LISTENING FOR WHAT GOD MIGHT WANT TO SAY TO YOU.*
Good Monday to you! This week is often known as the in-between week. That week where some folks are off from work or school, while others are headed back to normal activities as they finish out the year. Whatever may be your case, it is still Monday, and the start of new opportunities still exists. Our inspirational thought is a great reminder how we should begin this week. Prayer is our opportunity to be in conversation with the creator of all that exists. And as the statement indicates it insists on more of our listening to God than it does our talking to God. Especially if our conversation includes a demanding attitude that leaves little room for God’s will to be accomplished. What might you discover this week if your prayer time is focused on listening to the one who created you?
In our pick verses today, John begins unpacking what it means to be “like Jesus”. To know Him, to be in Him, and to abide in Him are descriptions of a close personal relationship with God. To live as Jesus lived doesn’t mean our choosing twelve disciples, performing great miracles, and being crucified for our faith. We cannot merely copy Jesus’ life events. Much of what Jesus did has to do with His unique identity as God’s son and savior of the world. Jesus’ purpose was dying for our sin which fulfilled the prophesy about Him in Old Testament scripture. To walk today as Jesus did, we must obey His teachings and follow His example of complete obedience to God and loving service to others. In what ways this week can you live like Jesus?
Blessings
