Monday – December 19th – 1 John 1:7 -----
1:7) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE FRUIT OF OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS OBEDIENCE TO GOD AND LOVE TOWARD OTHERS.*
Good Monday to you! Friends we are in the final week of the countdown to Christmas. Now is a great time to remind you of SunRise Christmas Eve options on Saturday. 11am will be the traditional music service. Contemporary style music will highlight the 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm services. At the 11pm service we will be blessed with music led by older youth and college age students. For those outside the shadow of our steeple the 3pm service will be live streamed with on demand options immediately following the service. Also, a reminder that there will not be in-building or online worship services on Christmas Day Sunday December 25th. Take the day and enjoy time with family!
In our pick verses today, John continues teaching about the importance for believers to walk in the light of Jesus. The primary goal of every believer is to be in fellowship with God and in fellowship with other believers. This can only be accomplished by our walking in the light of God’s perfect truth as contained in scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Through the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross, those who believe in Him will be cleansed of their sin. This verse is one of Wesley’s primary texts he used to teach the entire sanctification of a believer. In his sermon “Christian Perfection” he states, “Now it is evident that the apostle here speaks of a deliverance wrought in this world. And it is equally evident that if any sin remains, we are not cleansed from all sin…” As a believer we have the power of the Holy Spirit to help us resist the tempting of the evil one in our life. The closer we draw ourselves to God the greater effect the Holy Spirit has in protecting us from unrighteous decisions.
Blessings
