Friday – December 16th – 1 John 1:4 -----
1:4) And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GETTING INTO HOT WATER EVERY SO OFTEN HAS A WAY OF KEEPING A PERSON CLEAN.*
Happy Friday to you! Today’s inspirational thought brought a smile to my face for a couple of reasons. First, we are fully immersed in the season where the number one questions of kids is “have you been naughty or nice”. Second, I so can relate to getting into hot water. Most of my remembrance includes times throughout my life when I have been on the wrong side of an action or activity. Some of course where purely innocent on my part, some lacked the application of intelligence on my part, and most of the rest were bad decisions based on incomplete or misinformation. Maybe since I can still remember ones all the way back to my early childhood, they do possess the power to keep me more in line than if I had not learned a lesson from them. I wouldn’t recommend intentionally getting into hot water for the sake of learning. Paul refuted those who thought if they sinned more then grace would abound more. If you are like me, you don’t need any extra sessions to learn life’s lesion – enough will come naturally.
In our pick verse today, John continues to extol the importance of Christian fellowship as a way to stay connected to Christ. There are three important principles behind true Christian fellowship that have remined unchanged since the first generation of believers. First, our fellowship is to be grounded in the testimony and teachings contained in God’s holy word. Without this underlying foundation, effective and supportive togetherness is impossible to maintain. Second, Christian fellowship is mutual, true fellowship depends on the respect and unity of believers committed to a relationship. Third, it is renewed daily through the power of the Holy Spirit. True Christian fellowship combines healthy social and spiritual interaction. All Christian fellowship is first made possible only through our own personal living relationship with Jesus. How would you assess the strength of your Christian fellowships?
Blessings
