Wednesday – December 14th – 1 John 1:1-2     -----

1:1) That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—
2) the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FAITH IS THE DARING OF THE SOUL TO GO FARTHER THAN IT CAN SEE.*

Welcome to Wednesday! Mid-week check in and a friendly reminder only 10 shopping days until Christmas Eve. Our inspirational thought for today comes from the book of Hebrews and as one could imagine is the conclusion to the famous chapters on faith. Chapter twelve lists the roll call of many of the pre-New Testament saints. Those people who never having had an opportunity to meet Jesus or hear a gospel message stilled lived in obedient faith before the one true God. Faith in Jesus inspires us to go and do more than we think we can do or see. Faith gives us the hope, peace, joy, and love that we celebrate as we prepare for the birth of Jesus. Faith is the foundation to face trials, challenges, struggles, and even temptations knowing that we have the unlimited and unmatched power of God on our side. On a scale of 1-10 where would you mark your level of faith?

In our opening verses of 1 John, it is easy to identify the author of this letter as he uses wording very similar to the way the gospel of John opens. In both the gospel and in this letter, John establishes the preeminence of Christ as being the word of God made flesh. In these opening verses, John emphasizes that Jesus is eternal, that God came into the world as a human, that he, John was an eyewitness to Jesus’ life, and that Jesus brings light of God into the world and life eternal to those who believe. Not only did God take on human flesh but He made Himself available to us for relationship. No other religions god(s) have left the splendor of their heaven to fully connect with their creation with the purpose of sacrifice for their sins. As we will read in future verses the fully human and fully divine nature of Jesus was what was under attack by false teachers and critics of word of God incarnate.

Blessings
