Thursday – December 8th – 2 Peter 3:10-11 -----
3:10) But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.
11) Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live,
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THOSE WHO PROFESS REPENTANCE MUST PRACTICE IT.
Happy Thursday to you. Yes, there is another great Christmas opportunity for you to consider coming this Saturday. Our “SunRise Candy Cane Bash” will be held at the Twin Chimneys clubhouse (1/2 mile south of SunRise). Doors are open from 2p-4p for kid’s crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, Christmas caroling, fellowship, and of course a visit from Santa. Invite your family and friends, young and old, to join us for some holiday fun. Preregistration is not necessary for this event.
In our pick verses today, Peter introduces what will be his final focus for this letter. He challenges his readers to be ready to give an account of their activities and discipleship growth. We are to prepare ourselves by living with the truth that Christ’s return will be as unexpected as a thief comes in the dark of night. Peter’s description of theses closing days reminds us of Isaiah’s vision (13:10-13), and of the words of Jesus (Matthew 24:29, 35). Peter boldly states that anything less than a holy conduct and a spirit of godliness will be inadequate preparation for Christ’s second coming. What might we need to be working on in our own lives to be ready for that unknown moment in time?
Blessings
