1:8) The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9) But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

Happy Tuesday to you! Today marks the halfway point in the month of November. If you have pressing things to accomplish in 2022 your countdown clock is now at about six weeks and running. If your 2023 plans include reading through the Bible in a year, then now is the time to begin the process of securing your resource and planning your “perfect” time of the day to make this happen. Beth and I have, for several years, have used the Daily Walk Bible which comes in either New Living Translation or New International Version and is available on Amazon (don’t forget to use amazon smile to order). In addition, we have enjoyed listening to the YouVersion Bible app narrators as a way to better hear the scripture. If you would like more information, please reach out to me.
In our pick verses today, Peter now takes the virtues listed in the previous three verses and presents a case for their evidence in our lives. Some of the older translations of these verses record Peter’s words as “if these things be in you”…, indicating these qualities are more than cerebral, that they are internalized to the core of our being. These virtues are not based on rules, regulations, or rituals but on what is in our hearts as a result of our relationship with Jesus. If we are growing in, and cultivating, this list of virtues our lives will produce the fruit of holiness and righteousness. If, on the other hand, we are not increasing in these Christlike characteristics, we are veering toward a spiritual blindness that can jeopardizing our relationship with God. And who among us is willing to risk their eternity in Heaven for a moment or two of sinful pleasure.
