Sunday – January 9th – Hebrews 3:4-6     -----

3:4) For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.
5) And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward,
6) but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MEASURE OF A SPIRITUAL LIFE IS NOT IN ITS ECSTASIES BUT IN ITS OBEDIENCE.*

Good Sunday morning to my many blog friends!  What a great day to devote to worshiping God and praising the name of the one who has given us life and life eternal. Our inspirational thought for today is a great statement of centering for our faith. We all can probably share one or two great mountain top spiritual experiences in our Christian walk. Those are the memorable times when we have personally experienced a super strong connection to God and in the process all doubt becomes a distant memory. However, the inspirational thought strongly suggest that our true spiritual depth is best measured through our obedience to God. For example, and while this is not a standard practice for most drivers today, the engine oil level is supposed to be checked when the engine was cold and not when it was hot. A hot engine would give a false reading as to the safe operating level of the engine oil. Likewise, our measurement for spirituality is best checked when we are facing adversity and not doing our best sound of music twirling impression.

Our pick verses for today continues building on the reality of the faithfulness of Jesus and how He was far superior to even Moses. These verses explain how the work, ministry, and priesthood established through Moses was a direct foreshadowing of Jesus and the message of the Gospel. Moses was considered faithful to God’s message and was a full witness to the gospel which would be symbolically preached long during his lifetime. The long-standing reference to God’s house shows that God was working through the ancient patriarchs with the culmination of His plan coming in the form of Jesus. For the original readers of the book of Hebrews there should be no room for disconnect between the Old and New Testaments. Even today we are a people of one book – the Bible.

Blessings
