1:15 This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
16 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain;

 The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
      THOSE ON THE ROAD TO HEAVEN WILL NOT BE CONTENT TO GO THERE ALONE.*

    Good Thursday morning/afternoon/evening to you! Of all the inspirational thoughts shared in this blog, today’s is probably the best at capturing our role as a follower of Jesus. In this short sentence I am reminded that my salvation is much greater than what I get from God. Yes, by believing in the resurrection power of Jesus I am given the gift of eternal life. But, no where in the Gospel does it say that my salvation ticket is the culmination of my life as a Christian. In fact, writer after writer of the Gospels and the rest of the New Testament all point to the reality that we are not to be satisfied with just our own salvation, but we are to be fully focused on sharing our faith so that others will join us on our trip to Heaven. If we deem it worthy of our own choosing, then we should also see the importance of including others in this gift from God. Who will you encounter today that needs to hear about Jesus?

    In our pick verses today, Paul expands his teaching on our enduring the challenges of being a faithful person in a hostile world. Paul’s reference to “Asia” includes the city of Ephesus which held the position of the capital of this province within the Roman Empire. Biblical scholars no nothing of these two men mentioned as leaders of the movement away from the teachings of Jesus. Their rebellion included their unwillingness to identify with Paul or his teachings. On the other hand, Paul gives thanks for Onesiphorus and for his generous and gracious support of Paul’s ministry while in prison. The contrast between those who rebel and those who support are not only clear to Paul, but even more so to God. Our calling as a follower of Jesus to be a person who can be counted on for support and encouragement by other Christians. Is that what others see in you?

Blessings
