Wednesday – September 15th – 1 Timothy 4:14-16     -----

4:13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE LOSE THE PEACE OF YEARS WHEN WE HUNT AFTER THE RAPTURE OF MOMENTS.*

So excited that Wednesday of this week has arrived. Of course, I am excited when each and every day arrives, and I am alive to welcome it into my life. When we take time to stop and count the blessings God pours out upon us, we are better able to see more blessings that may pass by when we are focused on other things in life. How many blessings have you already counted today? Now when you have intentionally put a mental counter in your head – see how many more blessings you will notice. During this time at SunRise when we are seeking a spiritual awakening in our lives, acknowledgement of blessings can be one of those additional things the Holy Spirit helps awaken inside us.

Today in our pick verses we close out chapter four of Paul’s first letter to the young pastor Timothy who is leading the church in Ephesus. In verse thirteen, Paul reminds Timothy that he hopes to be able to visit in person very soon. In the meantime, Timothy is to devote himself to the duties of the ministry as he leads this challenging congregation. Timothy received a special gifting of the Holy Spirit for his ministry in Ephesus which was affirmed by the leaders of the Christian movement through the laying on of hands as they prayed over him. This same practice has been handed down through each generation of believers as a way for the Holy Spirit to lead ministers and church leaders to do the work of the Lord in their congregations. Paul concludes this chapter by reminding Timothy of the importance of his own daily disciplines of spiritual growth. Frequently leaders of the church can be so focused on serving others that they fall in danger of neglecting their own personal devotion and learning time.

Blessings

It is rare in my daily devotions to have the same Bible verse quoted in two separate publichations, today's blog and the Upper Room.
