Thursday – June 3rd – 1 Thessalonians 2:6-7     -----

2:6 Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ.
7 But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IF GOD GIVES HIMSELF TO US IN PROMISES, WE MUST GIVE OURSELVES TO HIM IN DUTIES.*

Good Thursday to you! Wow this week is moving quickly and for all of our local schools the summer vacation time will officially start by the end of school today. I am sure this summer will be filled with activities and travel that were probably shelved last summer. Vacation Bible School for SunRise this year is back in the building, albeit slightly smaller by design. Youth mission trips are getting the final planning touches while youth retreat preparation is in full swing. Yes, it appears we are on the path to an exciting summer of activities around SunRise.

In our pick verses today, Paul moves into the heart of his teaching on the integrity of being a missionary for the Gospel. Even though Paul was the most noted evangelist of the early church he did not use that as a means to draw attention to himself or to use that as a way to gain personal glory or gifts. Paul did not ask that the Thessalonian believers to honor him as an apostle. Instead, he was to them like a nursing mother lovingly caring for them in the early days of their faith journey. Paul was always and continually concerned for their welfare and spiritual well-being. Strong relationships were part of the foundation of the early Christian communities. This same type of relationships is as vital today within the church as it was back in Paul’s day. What can you do today to enhance relationships within the life of your church family?

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
