Wednesday – June 2 – 1 Thessalonians 2:4-5 -----
2:4 But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.
5 For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness--God is witness.

ONE WHO IS SINCERE IS SINCERE IN ALL PLACES AND AT ALL TIMES.*
Good Wednesday to you. Yes, we have already reached the mid-point in this shortened work week. Also, with the arrival of the month of June I am reminded we are teetering close to the mid-way point of this year. Today’s inspirational thought is a great reflective statement and an important motivator for our life as a follower of Jesus. In my reading through the Bible this year we have just entered the early chapters of the wisdom book of Psalms, so this statement is a true reflection of David’s instructions to be a wise and sincere person in our relationship with God. How is it with your soul today?
In our pick verses today we continue with Paul’s instructions on the necessity of having full integrity in ministry. While Paul doesn’t say it here, he was insistent that every believer was/is in ministry wherever they were planted. Ministry is not just for the professionals or highly trained, but the success of reaching the world for Jesus includes all who follow Jesus. The Gospel of the good news of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the basis of our timeless message of salvation. This message has remained unchanged from the day of Pentecost in the days after Jesus’ resurrection to the very moment you are reading this blog. When we attempt to adjust the message to fit modern times the power of the Gospel is lost, and people’s lives remain unchanged. Paul teaches that the true Gospel message has the power to convict people of their sins, change the direction of the lives, and comfort them in their moments of challenge. No other message or option offered by the world has that power, that peace, or that promise all at the same time. Jesus is the answer, and we have the opportunity to share that with others today.
