Monday – May 10th – Colossians 3:14-15   ----

3:14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PRAYER BECOMES A FLAT AND ARDUOUS BUSINESS WHEN WE REFUSE TO FOLLOW THE LIGHTS AND LEADS GOD HAS GIVEN US.*

Welcome to Monday! Our inspirational thought today occurs during our read through the Bible in the closing chapters of Nehemiah. The Israelites have returned to Jerusalem from a seventy-year exile in Babylon. During their separation from Jerusalem, they lost many of their religious practices which adopting many of the pagan practices they were exposed to in a far-off country. Even though they attempted to maintain a ritual prayer connection with God, in the end it was empty and meaningless because neither their heart nor their head was involved in the relationship. As we begin this new week may we focus on connecting our heart and our head with God. And then may we experience God’s power through our prayers.

Our pick verses today continue directions on how we are to put on a Christlikeness as followers of Jesus. Taking on the love of God contains for us the whole of Christian perfection and is at the core of a Christian’s life and actions. The peace of God will rule in our hearts when we completely surrender to God’s will, and as a result, our whole being then becomes unified in obedience to God. It is through Christ’s reconciling work on the cross that even makes this surrender of ourselves possible. Yes, we will have challenges and obstacles in our lives that pressure us to not surrender our self to God, or at least not a total surrender, but to avoid the flatness of prayer mentioned above it does require always putting God ahead of self.
