Saturday – February 13th – Philippians 1:8

1:8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

The Daily Walk Bible thought for today:
COURAGE IS THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO FEAR WHAT OUGHT TO BE FEARED AND HOW NOT TO FEAR WHAT OUGHT NOT TO BE FEARED.*

Good Saturday morning to you!  I will certainly be lifting up prayers for those who are located in the shadow of the O’Fallon steeple this weekend. Dangerous temperatures will greet us the next few mornings. For those who are considering in-building worship for Sunday, please use Holy Spirit discernment and extreme caution as you venture out. This will be our last Sunday for the 8:30am and 10:30am service times. Next weekend we go full live worship at 9am and 11am with the opportunity for discipleship discussions to follow in separate breakout rooms. Stay safe my friends!

Our single verse for today from Paul’s letter to the believers in Philippi reveals his close connection with the members of this faith congregation. Paul regards the Philippian believers with great “affection”, a word translated as meaning a deep stirring in one’s inward being. He loves them with the same kind of love that Jesus had for His own people. It is Christ’s self-giving love at work in Paul and in the Philippians. On the eve of valentine’s day may our love for each other be greater than those things which may try to separate us from being God’s hands and feet together in mission in the shadow of our mailboxes.

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
